Rakovinai Zho, freelance model and a fashion photographer, born and brought up in Dimapur, Nagaland is a young, innovative and independent artist hailing from Poumai community. The 21-year-old Rako is presently dwelling in Bengaluru majoring in Fashion Communication at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

Rako works with the purpose of finding perfection in imperfection and narrating stories that are connected personally to her. The trendsetter emerging from Nagaland inspires her audience to embrace all those little flaws and blemishes that makes one human. She treats every project as an enchanting experience where gender identity knows no bounds. “HAShtag_embrace_yourself”

NATURE OF THE CAREER                                       

Rako mostly works on collaboration-based projects with different creatives.  Currently she is working on her graduation project as an intern in an accessory brand, Joker and Witch, (a New-age Watch and Jewellery brand more specifically for millennials and Gen-Zs). Rako on working with the brand mostly does shoots according to the seasons and new launch of the collection.

HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?

“Ever since childhood I was very passionate towards anything related to fashion. Watching the ultimate FTV and studying in a fashion college is where it all started. As I grew up I gained more interest in visuals and started working on it.”

BESIDES MODELLING AND PHOTOGRAPHY:

Rako loves engaging herself into “making art and craftworks as it helps at improving my hand skills. In addition, being able to work on hands is a huge plus point for me as an artist because multitasking can be truly crucial for an artist as a beginner.”   

RAKOVINAI IN VOGUE INDIA’S ‘YOUTHQUAKE’:

Miss Zho has been featured in the recent issue of Vogue India’s ‘Youthquake’ where she expressed when it comes to representation in creative industries, she feels that young creatives should reflect the current zeitgeist through their work, be it through inclusivity, sustainability or recognising diverse cultures from across the globe.
