Allan Aley

About the author

Hello everyone,
My name is Allan Aley. Loved ones call me Temsu. I grew up in the beautiful hills of Mokokchung district. Currently, I live in Dimapur. I did my B.A in Economics from Patkai Christian College. I completed my Master’s in Mass Communication from BFIT, Uttarakhand Technical University.
My journey with writing began when I was in class 5. It was some random movies which inspired me to start journal writing. Recording important events, expressing my emotions in my diary unlocked a deeper sense of awareness and awakening. I discovered my love for writing only during my college days. Being the college editor of Patkai Christian College (2013) was a life-changing experience. It helped me to understand my passion and the meaning of God’s purpose in my life. Initially my writing was purely Christian writing. With time, I understood the power of words and wrote many articles in the local dailies. I wrote mostly about social commentary and activism. During my M.A days, I took my internship for Editorial from University Times (Delhi). This phase catapulted me into the realms of fiction writing, film reviews, contemporary topics and journalistic style of writing.
After 8 years of chasing my dreams, I was able to publish my debut book “Becoming The Light” on 27th November 2021.

About the book

Becoming The Light” is a book about Nagaland’s first superhero. The story revolves around the themes of redemption, courage and perseverance.
In 1704, a deadly epidemic hits Nagaland. The seven tribes of the Naga hills are consumed by the epidemic. As scores of people die, a spirit appears and indicates a quest to find the antidote. The selfless ambition of the tribal chiefs violates the code and conduct of the quest. A seismic blast wipes the entire population of Nagaland. Molung Ki is the last survivor! He embarks on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole world upside down. The genesis of the first Naga superhero is a rip-roaring narrative that cuts through fiction and reality. In the midst of it all, Can Molung find a way to rebuild the lost world? Will the dilemma thrust him further into new heroic calling?

Inspiration behind

“What do the youths aspire for and what can I do to inspire them today?” These questions inspired me to write this book.
I was inspired to create a work of literature that will inspire children, youths and the readers to be agents of change; to discover one’s light and ignite the same spark in others.
Superheroes have been a staple of the popular culture landscape. Though initially created for younger audiences, superhero characters have evolved over the years, becoming complex figures that appeal to more sophisticated readers. This is a fresh concept in Nagaland, a slight shift to pop culture reference, somehow I felt it was high time for us to enter the mainstream narrative and say “Nagaland has a superhero!”
Unless people support Naga writers, unique storytellers will not be able to sustain themselves. Please support writers.
Right now, my head space is bubbling with lots of ideas. I hope I can experiment with different genres and write as many books as possible. New dreams, bigger dreams…Until then, read my book and share your honest review with me. I will remain ever grateful.
I hope the book will take you on a mystical experience, on the level of your imagination.
