About Achumla

Achumla Sangtam hails from a beautiful place called Kiphire. She is a Singer/songwriter

She started singing at an early age but later discontinued because her interest shifted somewhere else and she couldn’t get the exact taste of music she wanted to express. It was around 2017 when it all began. She wrote her first original song Holo Hele a Sangtam folk fusion assisted by her mother and sang it after 2 days in her local church. The response from the listeners was amazing and for once she thought she was doing something different from her fellow musicians and that inspired her to write more songs in Sangtam.

Gradually as people began to like the song and got to know about it she got the opportunity to sing in different churches. Soon, the audience suggested her to record it but she was very nervous, unsure and not confident at all back then. Fast forward to 2020 a videographer (KohdiJings) suggested it again so she thought about it and gave it a try not knowing it will speak so much to people and now looking back, she can only thank God for how much he has done for her.

She said that songwriting is one of her favorite passion simply because she could express freely and exactly how she feels. On asking about her future plans she plans to write more songs and collaborate with more talented musicians.

Achumla won the Northeast Musicians Guild award 2021 for the Best Gospel song for “Holo Hele and delightfully stated that it was a great privilege and honour. But, for her what is more rewarding is the immense love and support from people around and being able to offer a chance to bring someone closer to God, even if it is just by an inch, through her songs is, what she regards, as one of her greatest achievements as a singer/songwriter.

For her final thought, Achumla commented Firstly, thank you so much to the team for having me and for giving me the opportunity to talk a little bit about me and my insights, more power to you all. And to anyone reading this let us all be reminded of what Abraham Lincoln said “You can have anything you want if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose.” Above all, let us all seek the kingdom of God first and I believe everything will fall at the right place and right time.”
