“Everyone has something or the other going on in their lives or mind. All these bottled up emotions and monsters in the darkest corners of our minds with no proper outlet or care may lead to violent thoughts in the end leading to depression and other violent actions and behaviour. Our brand ‘Violent Minds’ does not encourage or promote any sorts of violence, but instead strives to bring out the inner thoughts and emotions and express it through our brand.”
When asked why they decided to create their own brand, they responded that since it was hard to find the type of clothes that they liked to wear, they started printing their own. So, in that sense, their goal is to cater to the same needs of the people who have a hard time finding alternative/grunge streetwear in the region and India as a whole. Each design is crafted with the understanding that the T-shirt is a medium of self-expression.

Akum and Imti go back a long way, they have been friends since the 4th grade and growing up they shared the same interest in music which are punk-rock/nu-metal scene. They were deeply influenced by the whole culture. Under such influence, if they ponder upon, their first entrepreneurial journey began when they started selling Cassettes/CDs to their classmates and juniors and even thrifted dickies, hurley, stussy and sold them to others, basically they did some mini business for pocket money which is kind of amusing to imagine as such 15-16 year old Naga boys would do at that time. However, because of those things they did with a common interest and remaining as good friends they have achieved a dream together today.
In the year 2020, before they started their own Label, the two of them used to get together and start experimenting and printing tees. They put a halt to their purchase of tees from the market and started wearing their own made T-shirts. Initially that’s how it all kicked off. During the meetings, they would sit down, brain storm everything, pitch in ideas, experimented different things which led to slowly starting their work on their first collection of T-shirts under their brand name. One intriguing aspect is that, when Pandemic was around and had swallowed all hopes of livelihood, businesses were impacted deeply, under such circumstances, they took a leap of faith and did what everyone was doing at that moment- when a whole lot of entrepreneurs in the state rose. They also started their label and made their own little page on Instagram and started advertising the T-Shirts there. Within the first week, the entire collection sold out and they were so astounded. So, with such positive beginning they have been running their business well so far.

They take bulk custom projects from independent clients and so far, they have completed projects for college student unions, Biker orgs, police department and church related orgs among the others. Further, reviews and feedback on their business have been really positive so far specially on their prints and quality of the fabric. Customers have expressed their anticipation and have come back to shop each time they drop a new collection. That itself is considered as a huge success for them.
