Nestled in the Langpangkong Range of Mokokchung district [Home of Ao Nagas], Mongsenyimti is one such village you would fall in love with. In all its mystical galore and captivating landscape, this beautiful village is situated about 20 kilometers away from the district Headquarter (Mokokchung town).
At 3106 ft above sea level, Mongsenyimti has a pleasant climate and is adorned with seasonal flowers and fruits. And as you ride along the NH- 2, be warned to see some ravishingly breath-taking views.
The people of Mongsenyimti are 100% Baptist Christian and speaks Ao-Naga Dialect specifically Chungli Dialect. One misconception about the language spoken in the village is that, many people assumes Mongsen dialect to be the language spoken due to the suggestive nature of the Village’s name however ironically, 100% population speaks Chungli Dialect in this captivating village. Mysterious isn’t it? Well, you will get to learn about it when you get there!

- The Participatory 3-D model of Mongsenyimti
After a few metres into the village, one can see a 3-D representation map portraying all the physical features of the village. This model will guide you in navigating through the village.
- ‘Ajajima’ Cultural Terrain
Located at the heart of the village, Ajajima serves as a multi-purpose expanse for cultural celebrations and other events.
- ‘Penzu Semtu’ observatory tower
Perched atop the highest point of the village ‘Penzu Semtu’ is the signature architectural structure that identifies the village from afar. If you mount up the tower you will be able to view the scenic landscape of the village. You will also witness some neighbouring villages like Chuchuyimlang, Longkong , Longjang and Mokokchung Town as well.
- Mongsenyimti Baptist Church
Mongsenyimti’s people being 100% Baptist Christian, the Church stands proudly in the heart of the village in all its pious glory. The church has celebrated its 100 years journey in 2015 and it opens every devotion days.
- Kuralong (literally translated as Tortoise Rock)
Located at the heart of the village, this gigantic rock is said to have existed even before the villagers arrived and it is incessantly a folklorist attraction. It not only takes the shape of a Tortoise but it was also worshipped by the forefathers during the animist era. The Tortoise rock is definitely a fascination to awe at.
- Arju (Morung)
Once an institution that served as a place for imparting knowledge about traditions, customs, warfare, tribal affairs, and handicrafts to unmarried Naga men by the elders, ‘Arju’ now stand tall beside the log drum at the centre of the village.
- ‘Shitilong’ (Literally translated as Eleplant Rock)
Once worshipped as Guardian God of the village, this enormous rock is located below the play ground. The rock is in the shape of an elephant and protected the villagers from the attacks of enemies during war fares. Mind you, this rock is even bigger in real!
- S.Mar Jamir Park
You can just take a stroll in the park or have a cozy lil’ picnic with your friends amidst the trees and absorb the nature.
or you wouldn’t want to miss these uniquely designed cozy benches where one can just sit and have a relaxing time until all your weariness seep away into the woods.
Inside the village one can also find some instagrammable alleys where you can take some beautiful shots of yourself.
You will also find yourself immersing wholly in the rustic nature of these cozy and pretty houses!
